This was a from-the-ground-up design project with the objective of weaving together the brand’s personality with an industrial-chic “food meets mood” aesthetic — all on an ambitious timeline. Large-scale custom millwork, a more functional seating layout and updated lighting came together to create the perfect community-centric space designed to lift one’s spirits. The showstopper of this project, aside from the delicious cakes, is the branded ‘Celebrate the Sweet Life’ neon sign atop the most photographed nook in the space: the cozy wallpapered banquette. Not only is this cafe a comfortable meeting spot for guests, but also a backdrop for many Instagram snaps. The handmade furniture was designed for flexibility; the furnishings can be used as intended during daily operations, then can be reconfigured into workspaces when baking classes are hosted on site. Colorful graphics and branded design elements bring the entire bakery together for a delicious not-your-average-cake-shop experience.

“Stephanie and Laura delivered a perfect balance of chic and comfortable by introducing unexpected textures and designing hidden details that our customers discover with every visit. SB and her team didn’t just decorate a boutique to house desserts, they designed an industrial space with natural materials to feel warm, inviting, and worthy of celebrating the sweet life. We couldn’t be happier with how CAKE has been received by our team and our community.”
