Hillsyde Chic

Cockeysville, Maryland

Living room with two patterned armchairs, a glass coffee table with a flower vase, and a fireplace with a green marble surround. Large windows with cream curtains and a gold-trimmed black bookshelf with decor and framed photos.

Hoping to make better use of their existing square footage, the Tandys came to us looking for a style and layout refresh. We converted an underutilized front living room into an inviting, light-filled retreat. While anchored by traditional design principles, the space feels modern thanks to textures like lucite and metal, as well as fresh geometric prints. A neutral palette provides the ideal backdrop to allow art and accessories to pop. Sophisticated yet relaxed, this living room is an invitation to linger.

Interior view of a living room reflected in a large, round mirror with a mosaic frame. The room features two black armchairs, a fireplace with a green marble surround, a glass coffee table with flowers and decorative items, a tall black bookshelf, and large arched windows with white plantation shutters and light-colored curtains.
Living room interior with a large colorful abstract painting on the wall above a beige sofa. The sofa has two decorative pillows with floral patterns. In front of the sofa, there is a glass coffee table with a vase of purple tulips, a sculptural gold decor piece, a small dark gray vase, and a stack of books, including one titled 'Valentino at the Emperor's Table'. A tissue box sits on top of the books.

"I have turned to Stephanie and her team for their guidance on several design projects. The most recent was to turn an extra living room into a space that we would actually use. With very little direction from me, Stephanie created exactly what I was looking for — the room is not only beautiful, but also extremely functional and it has become my favorite room in the house. She is a master at combining the right amount of pattern, color and texture to create an environment that is both calming and luxurious. She was a delight to work with and I look forward to having her help on more projects!"
